The Volcanic Malvasia "Esencia Yaiza", from Bodegas Vega de Yuco, has obtained the gold medal in the XXII edition of the Agrocanarias 2022 Official Wine Competition, being the only wine from Lanzarote awarded in this contest.
Specifically, it won the award in the category of "young white wines or fermented in barrels" this Wednesday, April 27, sharing the podium with four other award-winning Canarian wines, from the D.O. Valle de Güimar, D.O. Abona and D.O. Canary Islands.
The objective of this event, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA), is to recognize the best productions of the different denominations of origin, produced and bottled in the Archipelago, among which 151 samples have participated, judged by 22 expert tasters and oenologists.
This recognition also comes in the 25th anniversary of the winery, so from the regulatory council of the D.O. Vinos de Lanzarote wanted to congratulate Bodegas Vega de Yuco, both for this special date, and for achieving this award and continuing to value the wines of the Island.
