The Biosfera Plaza Shopping Center, located in Puerto del Carmen, reinforces its commitment to local culture and art through the celebration of the IV Rapid Painting Contest and the launch of the BiosferART project. With these actions, the Shopping Center aims to connect all those interested in this field within the Island.

Last Saturday, August 31, the IV Painting Contest took place. It was attended by 40 participants who were able to create their paintings from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During this time, both contestants and attendees enjoyed the performance of musical groups that livened up the competition. Once again, the success of this initiative has been resounding.

The awards ceremony took place at 5:00 p.m. in the open-air cinema, Starlight, located on the fifth floor. Marina Lara Speer Martín was awarded the first prize, endowed with 1,000 euros and a basket of products. For her part, the second place went to Sarah Jane Mason, who received 600 euros, in addition to her corresponding basket of products.

The jury in charge of awarding these awards was made up of Nori Machín Barrios, Councilor for the Area of Attention to the Elderly, Culture and Festivities of Teguise; Eduardo Fernández Fariña, CEO director of Lanzarote Artgalery; Víctor García Moreno, winner of the I edition of the Rapid Painting Contest, as well as cultural producer and artist; and María José Ortega Monzón, manager of the Biosfera Plaza Shopping Center.

For the celebration of the IV Rapid Painting Contest, the sponsorship of La Casa de Las Carcasas, Multiópticas, Supermercados SPAR, Arteguise and Starlight Open Air Cinema was counted on.

Local artists in the spotlight

In addition, in collaboration with the Parto Cerebral cultural association, Biosfera Plaza has launched its platform for the promotion and virtual exhibition of local art: BiosferART.

Thus, the Shopping Center wants to break with the idea that art is only within the reach of a few and, with it, give visibility to the spectacular creations that are born from this island with such singular beauty. Therefore, BiosferART is established as the meeting point between local artists and all those interested in consuming art.

It should be noted that this August 3, http://art.biosferaplaza.es/ has been inaugurated through the exhibition of Alessia Ramazzotti. In it, this artist presents us with six works with a strong spiritual connection between women and the lunar phases.

Through this project, markets, workshops and exhibitions will also be developed where you can physically access the works of the different Lanzarote artists throughout the year.
