Representatives of public and private institutions of the archipelago will carry out a trade mission from July 14 to 18 to Japan to promote, on the one hand, the wines of the Canary Islands with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and the development of the audiovisual sector in the archipelago.
All of this within the framework of the Canary Islands week at the Spanish Pavilion of the Universal Exposition of Osaka, which is being held in the Japanese city since April 13, the Canary Islands Government explained this Saturday in a statement.
This mission aims to expand trade and communication channels with Japan, one of the countries with the highest economic growth in recent years and which has shown great interest in Spanish products and specifically Canarian products in the aforementioned sectors, at a particularly uncertain time in international economic policy.
These promotional activities are part of an internationalization project promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands, through Proexca, and in collaboration with all the agents of the Canary Islands, which represents under the same brand and concept the business strengths of the archipelago abroad and the attraction of opportunities towards the territory.
On behalf of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture, Migdalia Machín, the head of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty, Narvay Quintero; the Deputy Minister of Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government, Octavio Caraballo; and the General Director of Organic Coordination and Strategic Projects, David Pérez Dionis, will travel to Japan.
The official program begins on Monday with visits from representatives of the Protected Designations of Origin (PDO), Proexca, the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA) and Rural Environment Management of the Canary Islands (GMR Canarias) to, among others, Enoteca at Ginza Six and Matsuzakaya Ginza to continue the following day with the official presentation of the wines of the Canary Islands in which important members of the sector in Japan such as Yoshiko Akehi and Chisako Morimoto participate.
That same afternoon, the Auditorium of the Spanish Embassy hosts an audiovisual seminar to attract investments, chaired by the Minister Counselor of the Spanish Embassy, Miguel Gómez de Aranda y Villén, with the confirmed presence of about one hundred people, composed of local authorities, success stories of implementations in the Canary Islands and guests from the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in the country.
The day will be closed by the round table of the companies Studio 4ºC, Studio Nowake, IVI Dreams, Route24 and Quantum Box.
The following day, the delegation from the audiovisual sector for attracting investments will visit several studios such as Studio4ºC, Adglobe and Nintendo and, in parallel, the foreign promotion team will carry out a tour to also visit companies, such as AEON Shinonome and Seijo Ishii and it will be there when the mission of the wine sector ends.
For the audiovisual sector, it will continue with meetings in Kyoto, specifically at the Miyako Messe, the convention center, where the Bitsummit will take place on the 18th, in which commercial and business meetings are scheduled.
On Thursday, July 17, the institutional act of the Canary Islands Week will take place in the Spanish Pavilion of the Expo, with a mainly cultural character and in which the audiovisual Canary Islands, shores of history will be projected and Ecos de Isla y Volcán will be represented, a multidisciplinary piece directed by Julio Tejera that incorporates audiovisuals, autochthonous instruments and whistlers.
While a part of the delegation continues in the commercial mission of the audiovisual sector, Migdalia Machín, Octavio Caraballo and Adriana Regidor, at the head of the Canarian Strategy of Responsible Islands, will move to the island of Okinawa to share experiences on the management of the islands from innovation, research and sustainability, with visits to the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology and the Institute of Island and Sustainability Research.
