The Extraordinary Plenary Session of the Social Council of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) held this Monday has approved the implementation of two new degrees that are added to the university's educational offer for the next academic year 2024/2025: the Degree in Psychology and the Interuniversity Master's Degree in Bioethics and Biolaw.
With the approval of the Social Council for the Degree in Psychology, a historically demanded degree, the university seeks to "understand, interpret, analyze and explain human behavior, as well as evaluate and intervene in the individual and social sphere to promote health and quality of life," the educational institution said in a statement.
The Degree in Psychology will be taught online and the subjects that make up the curriculum will allow students to "obtain a comprehensive training in psychology and acquire skills and knowledge that prepare them to work in various professional fields within the field of psychology."
The Social Council has also approved the implementation of the Interuniversity Master's Degree in Bioethics and Biolaw by the University of La Laguna, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the University of the Basque Country. This degree will be taught through the Doctoral School and Postgraduate Studies of the ULL (EDEPULL), Faculty of Health Sciences (ULPGC) and Faculty of Medicine and Nursing (UPV).
"Bioethics seeks to provide an ethical framework to guide decision-making in the field of health and biomedicine, promoting respect for the fundamental values and rights of the people involved in medical and scientific situations," the ULPGC explained in the note, noting that the methodology of this master's degree will include lectures, tutorials, seminars and written, oral and practical evaluations.
