The largest increases in Covid cases in the Canary Islands occur in people aged 40 to 59 in the last week

They have added a total of 228 cases, almost doubling the positives of other age groups

The largest increases in coronavirus cases in the Canary Islands have occurred in the last week in people in the age groups between 40 and 49 years, followed by those between 50 and 59 years, which currently reach 3,034 and 2,540 total cases respectively.

Specifically, the age group of 40 to 49 years is the one that adds the most, with 115 new cases in a week, while the one that goes from 50 to 59 years does so in 113, followed very closely by people between 30 and 39 years who registered 109 cases, which raises the total count to 3,007 people in that age group with the virus, according to the statistical data of the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands.

After these three groups, the one that accumulates the most cases is that of young people between 10 and 19 years old who add 71 new cases in the last seven days, bringing their total to 1,598; followed by people between 20 and 29 years old who register 69 new cases and compute a total of 3,093.

Likewise, people between 60 and 69 years old add 61 cases and register a total of 1,658. After this range is the children from 0 to 9 years old who register 30 new cases and compute a total of 770.

Finally, the age groups between 70 and 79 years, and that of more than 80, registered 23 and 25 new cases, respectively, bringing their total cases to 1,050 in people from 70 to 79 years, and 713 in those over 80 years.

Currently, the Canary Islands registers an accumulated of 17,464 positives, of which 5,865 are epidemiologically active cases, of which 39 are admitted to the ICU and 176 are hospitalized on the ward. In addition, so far 285 people have died.
