Canary Islands adds 70 new positive cases in three days and has 149 active cases

One of the coronavirus patients is admitted to the ICU and two are on the hospital floor

Canary Islands has added 70 new positive cases of coronavirus in the last three days, which raises the accumulated cases to 2,555 since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, during the weekend there were also four new discharges, so there are already 2,444 people who have overcome the disease in the archipelago. Thus, the number of active cases stands at 149, since 162 deaths are recorded in the Islands.

Of the 149 active cases, there is one admitted to the ICU in Tenerife and two on the hospital floor - one also in Tenerife and another in Gran Canaria - while the rest are in home isolation.

Cases by islands

Fuerteventura is the island with the highest number of active cases, with a total of 76, after the positive of 47 of the 61 immigrants from the boat that arrived last Friday to the island. However, no deaths have been recorded on this island since the beginning of the pandemic.

Tenerife and Gran Canaria have 27 and 26 active cases respectively and are the islands that have accumulated the most cases since the beginning of the health crisis. The first has already registered 1,524 positives, of which 1,388 have already been discharged and 110 have died; while in the second a total of 628 cases are counted, of which 562 have already overcome the disease and 39 have died.

Regarding Lanzarote, it remains with 99 accumulated cases, of which eleven are active, after the positive of an English tourist detected this weekend and those of four immigrants from the boat that arrived on July 8 to the island and that were not diagnosed until a second test. These cases are added to those of five other immigrants from the same boat who tested positive after arriving in Lanzarote and that of the passenger who arrived from Mexico infected, who also remain active. The island has 83 cured and six deceased since the beginning of the pandemic.

For its part, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro continue without active cases. In the first, 107 positives have been registered since the beginning of the health crisis, of which seven died, while La Gomera and El Hierron had eight and three cases respectively and no deaths.
