The president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez, has been included for the second consecutive year in the list of the Top 100 Women Leaders of Spain.
Organized by 'El Español' and the magazine ‘Magas’, this initiative distinguishes the work of one hundred outstanding figures from ten different fields throughout the country, according to a statement from the Parliament of the Canary Islands.
The publication is in a list in which users can vote for their favorite candidates, among the various categories that the magazine has selected to recognize and make visible the talent of women in Spain.
Among those distinguished this year are personalities such as Olympic athlete Carolina Marín, writer Ana María Matute and lawyer and former politician Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría.
The main reason given by the magazine for the election of the Canarian president in its twelfth edition is her institutional political activity of more than 20 years, with her first year at the head of the Chamber being the most active in the history of this institution, exceeding by almost 50% the number of events in the first years of the previous two legislatures.
"It is an honor to receive this type of recognition for the work carried out as a public representative who, after more than two decades, has put me at the head of the Canarian Chamber", said the president in statements sent by the Parliament.
