Jorge Carlos, a 12-year-old boy residing in Arrieta, has asked the Haría City Council "not to let die" a tree that he planted in 2015, when he was 6 years old.

The young northerner lives on La Garita street, and it was during the works that were done in 2015 when he decided to take part of his collection of seeds to plant a tree in front of his house. "You can't imagine the joy I had when it started to sprout," he says.

Jorge Carlos assures that together with his family he has "on two occasions" prevented his "tree friend" from being killed. However, this past Friday, February 4, when he returned home from school, he saw how it had become "a simple badly pruned trunk with little chance of surviving."

"It is the first time in all these years that I do not see the green and joy of my tree friend," laments Jorge Carlos. For all this, he asks the Northern Council not to let it die, and also adds that during the summer, both residents and tourists "enjoy the shade and freshness" that the plant gives.
