The next Sunday, October 18, a new season will officially begin for UD Lanzarote in the Canarian group of the Third Division. Last Monday, the official calendar was announced after the promotion play-off between Arucas CF and UD Las Zocas was resolved. The rojillos will face the teams from the province of Las Palmas in the first phase of the competition, which consists of a total of 18 matchdays.
The debut of the team coached by Josu Uribe will be against UD Guía, a match that is initially scheduled to be played on Sunday at 12:00 noon at the Octavio Estévez stadium. The rojillos will face one of the newly promoted teams to the Third Division, a team that returns to the national category after many seasons away from it.
UD Lanzarote's first opponent at the Ciudad Deportiva will be Unión Viera, a match scheduled for Sunday, October 25. The Lanzarote team will complete the first month of competition by visiting UD San Fernando in the third matchday, undoubtedly one of the big favorites in the category after playing in the promotion phase last season, and hosting Arucas CF in the fourth matchday.
The first phase of the competition in the group of the province of Las Palmas of the Third Division will have a total of 18 matchdays, and will last until the weekend of March 21. UD Lanzarote will close the season by hosting UD Las Palmas "C" at the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote. The top three teams from each group will advance to the group in which they will fight for direct promotion, and the teams ranked 4th, 5th and 6th will also play a second phase in which there is one promotion spot at stake.
The UD Lanzarote squad returned to training this Monday and did so with a work session at the facilities of the Sands Beach Resort hotel, in Costa Teguise. From Tuesday, the players led by Josu Uribe will begin on the pitch to prepare for the duel against UD Guía next Sunday.
