The twenty-eighth edition of the ‘El Río’ Swimming Crossing, scheduled for October 10, will be postponed until next year 2021, due to the health restrictions that have been established due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Sports, has announced this decision, after analyzing the characteristics of this event that is held in waters between Lanzarote and La Graciosa and where more than 700 swimmers participate, many of them international.
"The security measures and recommendations of the health authorities at the national level make it impossible to hold this popular event with guarantees, where numerous athletes from the Canary Islands, other Autonomous Communities and abroad meet", explains the Minister of Sports, Francisco Javier Aparicio.
From the Cabildo they insist that "the most important thing at this time is the health of the people and to return to normal as soon as possible, always following all the recommendations."
