Just two days remain before a new edition of the Disco Night Urban Race 5K-10K Ciudad de Arrecife is launched, an athletic event that is held at night and surrounded by a great musical and festive atmosphere. The essence of the race is maintained with respect to the first edition and, as a novelty, it will be valid for the Canary Islands Road Championship of 5 and 10 kilometers. The city of Arrecife will become the sports epicenter of the weekend, in a test that will take place along the entire maritime avenue of the island's capital.
On Wednesday morning, the official presentation of the second edition of the Disco Night Urban Race 5K-10K Ciudad de Arrecife took place, with the press conference being held at the Arrecife Municipal Archive. José Carlos Hernández, organizer of the event next Saturday, was accompanied by Paca Toledo, Councilor for Sports of the Arrecife City Council, and Pedro San Ginés, president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote. The event served to publicize all the details of Saturday's event.
The Councilor for Sports of the Arrecife City Council, Paca Toledo, recalled that the first edition of the Disco Night Urban Race 5K-10K Ciudad de Arrecife was "a success in terms of participation and this year will be no less", and invited all the people of Lanzarote to "participate in the race this coming Saturday". For his part, Pedro San Ginés, president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, wanted to congratulate José Carlos Hernández for the brilliant idea of organizing a race at night and that this serves to promote the island outside our borders.
José Carlos Hernández, organizer of the Disco Night Urban Race 5K-10K Ciudad de Arrecife, was in charge of announcing all the details of the race. "This year we are going to maintain the line of the past edition," Hernández commented and announced that "from Friday afternoon we will have parallel spinning and zumba activities at the Arrecife Fairgrounds." He also explained that there will be a children's race for the little ones that will begin at five in the afternoon on Saturday and, like last year, the crawling race will be held for children up to three years of age.
The Disco Night Urban Race 5K-10K Ciudad de Arrecife is valid for the Canary Islands Road Championship of 5 and 10 kilometers. Regarding this circumstance, José Carlos Hernández highlighted that "on Saturday there will be high-level athletes from all over the Canary Islands in Lanzarote." A fact that is reflected in the number of room reservations that have been received by the hotels that collaborate with the event.
José Carlos Hernández wanted to highlight the great essence of the Disco Night Urban Race 5K-10K Ciudad de Arrecife and explained that "there will be several musical points located on the Las Bolas Bridge, Real Casino Club Náutico or in El Doblón, with which we will ensure that the circuit is very surrounded by the musical environment." At the conclusion of the last race, the trophies for each of the categories and age groups will be awarded, all accompanied by a great musical show that will last until 1 am. In addition, throughout the day, visitors, families and athletes will have the possibility to taste the tapas offered by Gourmet Catering Ampate.
Registration to participate in the second edition of the Disco Night Urban Race 5K-10K Ciudad de Arrecife remains open. They can be done through the event's website, www.disconighturbanrace.com, or in person at the Lanzarote Sports City or at the Puerto del Arrecife Sports Park from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Bib numbers will be collected at the Sport Zone store in Arrecife on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
