On January 25, 2015, the examination for obtaining the Black Belt of this Martial Art was held in the Municipal Sports Hall of La Victoria de Acentejo, on the Island of Tenerife, before the Court of Grades of the Royal Spanish Karate Federation.
Two young karatekas from the Poliarrecife Club traveled to Tenerife, training at the New World Gym Karate School under the direction of José A. Lasso. They attended to present their work before the Court of Grades as candidates for the Black Belt degree, which has been awarded to them given the great level demonstrated.
Mercedes Zhi García Arroyo and Juan Nicolás Lasso Reyes become the youngest karatekas of this Dojo to hold the black belt, since, "despite their many years of practice, both are only 12 years old".
There are already 23 students of José Antonio Lasso who have reached the desired black belt, their grades being, after the results of this exam, three black belts, eight first dan, five second dan and seven third dan.
