Playa Honda hosted the presentation of a new edition of the Playa Honda-Emmax Crossing, a race that will be held in the coastal town of San Bartolomé on Saturday, September 11.

The main novelty this year will be that there will be more distances. And, in addition to its usual 700-meter (minor) and 1,200-meter circuits, a 5,000-meter route (scoring for the Canary Islands Cup) will be added, starting at Charco de San Ginés and ending at Playa del Curita. The presentation was attended by the mayor of San Bartolomé, Alexis Tejera, the Councilor for Sports, Isidro Pérez, the manager of the Emmax Restaurant, Max Muller, and the manager of Tripasión Eventos, Alejandro Acuña.

Participants in the 1,200 and 5,000 meter routes must be 13 years of age or older on the day of the race and accept (if applicable) the authorization for minors that appears on the registration platform. The 700 meter distance is intended for children under 13 years of age who must also complete the authorization.

There will be a finisher medal for all participants who cross the finish line in 5,000 meters and a medal for the first three classified by category in the 1,200 meter distance. Registration will be open until Tuesday, September 7 at www.tripasioneventos.com.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Alexis Tejera, said he was "very happy" to be supporting the ninth edition of this event again. "From the institution we make every possible effort to help sports. Today we are talking about this crossing, which is already consolidated in the island calendar thanks also to the organizers and the private companies that have kept it alive for so long," said Tejera, who also wanted to send a message to the swimmers of the municipality and the rest of the island. "We are immersed in an open water project that we hope will see the light soon and precisely this place where the test will be carried out has a lot to do with it. The details will be known soon,” said the first mayor of San Bartolomé.

For his part, the Councilor for Sports, Isidro Pérez, ratified the words of the mayor and pointed out that “Playa Honda has become a town where you can breathe sports.” "And that is thanks to events such as this consolidated crossing, which is why this institution must continue to bet on this type of event to continue diversifying sports in our municipality and that each athlete can have their space, competition and event,” he added.

The Emmax Restaurant is once again collaborating with this event and for its manager, Max Muller, it is "great news" to be able to make this presentation again "and seeing the resurgence of sport after everything we have been through this last year.” According to reports, the philosophy of this restaurant is that athletes can also have good nutrition and that is why they strive every day to offer a healthy menu to all their customers.

Finally, Alejandro Acuña, on behalf of Tripasión Eventos, thanked for the trust placed in his work to bring this crossing forward again and expressed his confidence that the incorporation of the 5,000 meters can "satisfy the need of the most experienced swimmers”. For this edition of the event, in addition to the support of the San Bartolomé City Council (through the Department of Sports) and the Emmax Restaurant, there is the collaboration of Turismo Arrecife.

The beach area where the test will take place will be marked off from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. so that it can be carried out "with total normality, safety and fluidity". Thus, the City Council asks the users of this section of the beach "to know how to excuse the specific inconveniences that the sporting event may cause".
