The third day of the Insular League of Latin Sail Boats of 8.55 Meters was held on Sunday morning, with the participation of the five boats that are registered this season in this modality. A third regatta that would serve to close the Isla de Lanzarote Trophy and that this time goes to the showcases of the Puerto del Arrecife. The boat skippered by Manri Rodríguez won with authority in the regatta held in the bay of the island's capital.
With wind conditions of about 10 knots of intensity, the start was given at 11:00 am to the third regatta of the season of the 8.55 meters modality. The Regatta Committee designed a regatta course with a buoy located in the area of La Bufona and the other located in the high seas, having to give the boats three laps to this course.
The Isla de Lanzarote, skippered by Pedro de León, took advantage of its good start to place itself at the head of the fleet and acquire a considerable advantage over the rest of the boats. The Puerto del Arrecife and the Gracioceso Líneas Romero, skippered by Aythami Quintana, fought hand in hand for the second position, and behind them came the Villa de Teguise of Santiago González. The Haría Volcán de la Corona, with Emilio Tavío at the helm, was more behind from the beginning.
In the second windward leg, the Isla de Lanzarote chose a bad strategy by going to the left side of the regatta course, while the rest of the boats headed towards Arrecife. The Isla de Lanzarote lost the wide advantage it had and was overtaken by the Puerto del Arrecife, Gracioceso Líneas Romero and Villa de Teguise.
The Puerto del Arrecife took the lead in the regatta and took advantage of a bad turning maneuver by the Gracioceso Líneas Romero to seal the race. The boat skippered by Aythami Quintana had to defend the second place against the Villa de Teguise, crossing the finish line as second classified and third would be the boat of Santiago González. The Isla de Lanzarote was classified fourth and the Haría Volcán de la Corona closed the classification.
After the first three regattas of the season, Puerto del Arrecife and Gracioceso Líneas Romero lead the classification with 5 points, with the Isla de Lanzarote Trophy going to the boat skippered by Manri Rodríguez for adding two victories in the three regattas held.
The Villa de Teguise, is in third place, and the Isla de Lanzarote and the Haría Volcán de la Corona are further behind. The Insular League of Latin Sail Boats of Lanzarote of 8.55 Meters takes a week off, and the competition will return next Sunday, July 2, with the celebration of the fourth day of the season and the first of the two regattas valid for the Ciudad de Arrecife Trophy.
