Tinajo hosted 150 runners from different categories last Saturday in the La Santa Popular Mile, which corresponds to the third and fastest event of the Popular Races Cup of the municipality.
This year, Aladdin Bouhania and Susana Rodríguez took first place in the senior category, with the latter standing out especially for her long professional career, which has led her to win a gold medal in triathlon at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, in addition to having been crowned four times world champion and twice at European level, all with a visual disability.
“I want to thank the participants, spectators and the organization for the excellent work that has been carried out, since we were all able to enjoy this sporting event in an unbeatable atmosphere. It has been a very complete weekend, in which we have been able to count on the presence of elite athletes and, above all, examples of overcoming obstacles such as Susana Rodríguez, whom I thank for her participation,” said the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín.
In addition to the senior category, the cadet, youth, junior, veteran A and veteran B categories were also held. The little ones also had their space in the event with the children's category, which stood out for its good atmosphere and high level of participation.
“I want to congratulate the winners of the different categories, as well as the rest of the participants for giving us this incredible event, from the youngest to the veterans. We are very clear that we must give space to all ages in each of the sporting events that are held in the municipality,” said the Councilor for Sports Vianney Rodríguez.
The fourth event, the Tinajo YouTrail, a 14-kilometer race with four modalities that will count towards the Tinajo Popular Races Cup, will be held on September 4. In addition, athletes can consult the complete results on the web of My Race Result.
