Ricardo Terrades and Nano Negrín, members of the team "Clínicas W", were proclaimed champions of the second day of the Barcelona Winter Series of J70, an event held during the past weekend in Catalan waters.
The boat, which was the only Canary Islands team present, was a union between the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, Arrecife and Barcelona, whose other members were Guti del Castillo from Gran Canaria, Manuel Carrión and the young Maricú Díaz. It should be noted that the event featured another Lanzarote native, Rayco Tabares, tactician of the "Tenaz" team.
The event, which featured 12 teams from Spain, England, Germany, Poland and Andorra, began last Friday with the celebration of two of the three races scheduled for the first day. The first regatta resulted in a resounding victory for "Cars Solutions International", followed by the English "Seriousfun" and third "Noticia".
The second race of the day would give rise to the victory of "Noticia". In the general classification, they were placed in first position after the results obtained, while the team "Clínicas W" finished the day in fifth position after suffering a penalty at the start of the second race.
The second day of competition, which threatened rain but ultimately did not, resulted in an impeccable performance by the Canary Islands boat throughout the day after obtaining a 3rd, 2nd and 1st place. In this way, they were in second position just one point behind "Noticia", leader until now of the general classification table.
The last day of competition arrived with suspense and excitement to know who would be the winner of this day. Once the regatta started, the lack of wind forced the test to be suspended and had to wait until the necessary conditions were given. Upon its resumption, the Canary Islands team finished in second position, behind the "Tenaz" team. However, this result allowed them to be proclaimed winners and obtain four points of advantage with "Noticia" who finished in second general position followed by "Tenaz", who closed the podium.
