The Snipe class World Championship, which has been organized by the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña throughout this week, has concluded. And it has been the triumph of regularity, with the Puerto Rican Raúl Ríos ending the Brazilian dominance of the last editions.
Spain could not take advantage of competing at home. However, the hosts and, specifically, the Canary Islands, can be satisfied with the final second position of Gustavo del Castillo, the third of Rayco Tabares and the fourth of Alfredo González. To win, something that has not happened since Félix Gancedo won consecutively in 1973 and 1975, we will have to keep waiting.

The day began at 2:07 p.m. with north wind around fifteen knots. The Spanish prominence already began with the victory of Damián Borrás, with Alexandre Tinoco finishing second. In the fight for the title, Raúl Ríos noticed how Gustavo del Castillo was approaching to just three points. The Antillean was eleventh and the Canary Islander seventh. And shortly before 4:00 p.m., the last regatta of the competition began. Rayco Tabares showed his quality and finished in the best way, with a first place (he had already achieved a third place in the previous heat), which ensured him to step on the final podium. Second was Alfredo González, who also completed a great championship. And third, the Brazilian Alexandre Paradeda. For his part, Raúl Ríos secured the World Championship thanks to the sixth position in this partial, with Del Castillo eighth.
This Snipe Class World Championship concluded with the corresponding awards ceremony, and later with a gala dinner.
