The first stage of the II Rally Tías – Yaiza 'Go Karting San Bartolomé Trophy' was held with a spectacular turnout of fans, who witnessed two timed sections that were repeated on two other occasions.
The first leaders are the same ones who lead the Lanzarote Island Championship. Oliver Rodríguez-Iván Rodríguez added the victory in two of the four timed events held, including the one that opened the rally. The speed printed in the more than 20 timed kilometers of today has earned the SEAT Córdoba WRC team to go to bed with a 3.6-second advantage.
The income augurs strong emotions for Saturday. Yeray Lemes-Ariday Bonilla, on a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII, achieved victory in the remaining two specials, so their status as favorites was not wrong. Behind them they have left the Porsche 911 GT3 of Antonio Suárez-Moisés Robayna. The winners of the first edition of the Rally Tías – Yaiza 'Go Karting San Bartolomé Trophy' have systematically marked the third best time, finishing this first day 14.8 seconds behind the leader of the race.
The fourth place, one minute behind the previous ones, is for Leandro González-Álvaro Rosario, who with a Renault Clio Sport lead Category 2. 3.3 seconds behind them are the leaders in Category 3, Adrián Betancor-Jorge Umpiérrez (Toyota Corolla GT), who are pushing their options for the podium of the island championship.
Three teams have been forced to abandon prematurely: Eduardo Robaina-Guillermo Robaina (Renault Clio Sport), Octavio García-Ariel Quintana (Peugeot 106 1.3) and Alfredo Guerra-Miguel Ángel Rodríguez (Skoda Fabia 1.2 TSI).
For Saturday, the bulk of the test remains with: 'Tabayesco-Las Nieves' (11.754 km at 9:54 and 10:57 h), 'Tegollo-La Candelaria' (12.577 km at 12:52 h and 14:48 h), 'Karting San Bartolomé' (1.600 km at 13:23 h), 'Las Breñas-Femes' (4.000 km at 16:33 h and 17:10 h) and 'Los Remedios Spectacle Section' (1.750 km at 17:45 h).
