Lionel Morales has been proclaimed this weekend Spanish Duathlon Champion in his PTS2 category in the event of the Spanish Paraduathlon Championship held in Cáceres, Extremadura.

The paratriathlete from Conejero, Canarian representative under the name of CD Natación Nadamas Las Marinas, has been the winner in Extremaduran lands in the PTS2 category with a time of 01:18:16, followed, in second place, by Oskar Garro Antxia (01:28:56), finishing in third place J. Martínez Rincón from AD Triatlón Ecosport Alcobendas of Madrid (01:33:33).

Lionel Morales achieved the best time in all three splits of the Extremadura event, in the first run segment (00:22:42), on the bike (00:38:40) and in the closing run (00:13:53), obtaining very similar times to the second classified in the transitions.

After the race held in Extremadura, Lionel Morales explained that “my back is sore because I pushed myself more than I should have in the race. I am recovering from a rib injury and I wasn't able to run five kilometers straight, but here, yesterday, I did it all in one go. The bike was very good and, when I got off the bike, I got off in a certain way, with my back, but in the end I was able to finish well, whole. I ran better than I thought. I was very clear that I was going to come here and I was going to have to stop at some point to open the prosthesis and then be able to continue running. But in the end I had a good race, without expecting it, honestly. But well, one more for the medal count,” concludes the athlete.
