Cascais (Portugal)
Islas Canarias Puerto Calero, captained on this occasion by Daniel Calero, has been proclaimed champion in Cascais of the GP 42' Owner Driver of the Quebramar-Chrysler Trophy, after leading the competition from the first day. The Canary Islands boat has been the best after winning seven of the ten races.
Already on the first day, the Canary Islands boat had a spectacular premiere winning in all the races. On the last day, it has added two new first places, which has not given an alternative for anyone else to fight for the title.
On the last day, Islas Canarias Puerto Calero only needed to stay ahead of José María van der Ploeg's Madrid in the first of the two races held. However, the Canary Islands boat came out very focused and won the last two races.
The skipper of Islas Canarias Puerto Calero, Daniel Calero, was very happy upon arriving at port: "This has been the triumph of the entire team, the truth is that they have given it their all and have had a lot of patience with me.
I thank them from the bottom of my heart". Regarding his debut at the helm of the GP, he explained that "it is a very technical boat and as the days went by I gained more confidence. We sailed with all kinds of winds and waves and I think we managed to hold our own throughout the championship".
From now on, "I will pass the baton back to skipper José María Ponce in order to try to win the Audi MedCup circuit in two weeks in Cartagena".
This is the third victory of the season for the GP 42' Islas Canarias Puerto Calero, the previous two were the City of Alicante Trophy and the Region of Sardinia Trophy.
