There is no doubt. The members of the Club Deportivo
Tahíche women's team are the best in the Canary Islands and form one of the most feared teams nationwide. For another season they will be present in the final phase of the Spanish Championship and will fight for a place in the Women's National First Division of Handball. The final phase will take place from May 13 to 16 in Córdoba.
The members of CD Tahíche, after being proclaimed champions of the Canary Islands, traveled to Fuengirola (Málaga) to play the sector phase. UD Abarán and Fuengirola El Coto were the rivals that the Tahíche girls had to face.
CD Tahíche's debut in the promotion phase was unbeatable. In the first match of the sector phase, they won 34-20 against the Murcian team UD Abarán. With this victory, Tahíche played all the possibilities of being in the final phase in their match against Fuengirola. The hosts won on the first day by 15 to 30.
On the last day, CD Tahíche faced Fuengirola El Coto. The Malaga team, with the public in their favor, stood up to CD Tahíche. The Lanzarote team finally won 24-26, thus achieving first place in the sector phase and qualifying for the final phase.
CD Tahíche received the calendar and competition rules last Monday for the final phase of the Women's Second Division. Tahíche has been placed in group A together with AD Olvega from Aragón and Sant Quirze from Catalonia. Balonmano Femenino Ciudad Real, Marina Park and Adesal have been paired in the other competition group.
The matches of the final phase will be played from May 13 to 16 in Córdoba. The first classified of each group will play the final and only the winner of that match will get the promotion to the Women's First Division of Handball. The restructuring that the Spanish Handball Federation intends to carry out in the category for the next season will only allow the promotion of one team.
