In the waters of Puerto del Rosario in Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands Sailing Championship was held in the Optimist Class, whose results were excellent for the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife sailors who make up the team sponsored by Naviera Armas, Renault Juan Toledo and Plus Car.
Alberto Morales used his consistency throughout the different days to win the title of champion of the Canary Islands. His steady start with a seventh and fifth place in the first two races, made up for it by not dropping out of the top three positions in the remaining races, obtaining a first, two seconds and two third places, which led him to top the overall standings with 16 points.

Also noteworthy was the participation of Mariano Stinga, who obtained the runner-up position, having obtained three first places and with a total of 22 points, placing first in the Canary Islands Ranking qualifying for the Spanish Championship. Samuel Beneyto from Gran Canaria had to settle for third place in the face of the superiority of the sailors from Lanzarote.
The RCNA sailors José María Batlle and Eduardo Brito also took fifth and seventh place, respectively. During the different races, winds of 25 knots (force 5 Bf) were reached, which in some way favored the sailors from Lanzarote who were more accustomed to these weather conditions.
The classified sailors will represent the Canary Islands in the Spanish Optimist Championship to be held from June 25 to July 1, organized by the Real Club Náutico del Puerto Pollensa, in the Náutico de Mallorca.
