Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejeros and SBT Maspalomas faced each other on Sunday morning, in a match corresponding to the fifth day of the First Autonomous Men's Basketball Division. The two teams offered a very even match on the court of the IES Blas Cabrera Felipe Pavilion, which was decided on the side of the Gran Canaria team in the last quarter by a tight 73 to 77.
The match began with a basket by Axel Bello for Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejeros, which was quickly neutralized by the visiting team with a 0-8 run, with the Gran Canaria team achieving the first important advantage on the scoreboard. Pedro Hernández was in charge of breaking the opponent's dynamic by scoring a three-pointer, which brought his team back into the game. With the score at 17 to 14, the first ten minutes of the match came to an end.
The equality continued to be maintained during the development of the second quarter. Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejeros was having problems exploiting the inside game and with a strong defense began to recover balls. Gregory Montilla and Axel Bello, culminated two quick counterattacks to establish 27 to 23 and force the coach of SBT Maspalomas to request a time-out. The differences were still minimal and with the score of 36 to 34 the break was reached.
After many minutes behind on the scoreboard, SBT Maspalomas would manage to take the initiative in the middle of the third quarter and it was as a result of a triple scored by Luis Romano (41-42). Aloe Plus Lanzarote did not lose concentration and continued to develop the game that he likes the most, which allowed him to reach the last ten minutes of the match with a four-point advantage (54-50).
The tables began to turn radically during the last quarter of the match, a period in which SBT Maspalomas was more successful. With four minutes remaining, the advantage for those from the south of Gran Canaria was 7 points (61-68), and despite the attempts of Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejeros, they could not get closer on the scoreboard. A triple by Samuel Sánchez practically sentenced the match, establishing 68 to 74 shortly before the end.
With the result of 73 to 77, the match came to an end, with Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejeros suffering the second defeat of the season in the First Autonomous Men's Basketball Division. The competition will stop again this coming weekend, which does not help the continuity of the teams. The next match for the Lanzarote team will be on December 11 visiting CB Telde, a team that does not know the victory in the current campaign.
