I have spent this last decade in my semi-voluntary exile, away from many opportunists in nationalist politics. Thinking about the causes and reasons for the independence stagnation in my longed-for Canary Homeland. For different reasons, the main impediment for which the small parties and associations of "around the house" have not been able to resolve their ideological and political differences, if they truly exist, since I am of the opinion that before a project of such caliber, as is the goal that we true independentists have set ourselves, which is none other than the decolonization and sovereignty of our Canary Homeland, which is colonized by a retrograde and third-world nation, as in this case Spain,
I believe that arguments are superfluous, and above all, a minimum of dignity and patriotism must prevail in said heroic and sublime duty, leaving aside political ideologies, as well as the desire for profit and personal caciquism,
since unfortunately it exists, among the so-called nationalist leaders, who in the best of cases, only have a couple of dozen militants, taking into account that the vast majority
of Canarian independentists are not affiliated with any party, and we can verify this by the high rate of electoral abstentions. The conclusion and the reasons for said stagnation in the liberation process cannot be other than the arrival in the Canary Islands
from Algeria in the fateful year 1986, of the charismatic leader of newspaper and microphone guerrilla Antonio Cubillo Ferreira.
Due to my blind patriotism and ignorance about said character, and letting myself be carried away by other compatriots, as well as by the propaganda disseminated in the media, both Canarian and Spanish, who knew how to create a fictitious leader, and like myself, other colleagues also placed their hopes in said disastrous character, believing that he would be the ideal person, capable of grouping the nationalists into a common front, which would lead us to achieve Independence. And these were the reasons why, together with other colleagues, we were the first to support the creation of the National Congress of the Canary Islands, and where in the official act that took place in March 1986, at the Colegio Mayor de San Fernando de La Laguna, we integrated the militants of Siete Estrellas Verdes. Then, given my contacts with the Libyan brothers, I was responsible for establishing relations with said country, without further preamble, since the Canary Islands is an African archipelago, colonized by a European nation. Being the unconditional support from Libya, until achieving decolonization and independence. As Colonel
Muammar El Gadhafi stated in September 1986 in the city of Tripoli, at the International Congress of the Mathaba, as well as in the city of Sirte, before the Congress of African Progressive Forces; «The Canary Islands are an integral part of Africa, therefore
which is a priority problem of the O.U.A, an organization that by mistake or negligence, has not been able to carry out the decolonization process of said archipelago before international forums, since Spain, the colonizing country, is part of the O. T. A. N. and because this old
colony is at the gates of Africa, it poses a serious danger to peace in our continent.
Later I programmed the visit of Antonio Cubillo to the Great Libyan Jamahiriya, there we had the opportunity to interview Colonel Gadhafi, who offered us his political support, and especially recommended that
all the independentist parties were grouped into a national front. The expenses of the trip were paid by a Libyan friend residing in the Canary Islands. I remember that when we arrived in said country, I had $300 left over, which Cubillo wanted us to share said money, and I replied that I am an honest and revolutionary person with my ideals, and given my ethical and religious principles, I would not be corrupted by all the gold in the world.
From that moment on, I began to distrust his revolutionary principles and morals. Then, when his party managed to obtain a few dozen thousand dollars, as well as other donations sent by other compatriots and sympathizers with the cause from Venezuela, Sweden and other
places in Europe, everything went directly to his hands or to the account he maintains at Credit Lyones in Talbot (France) This is just a small sample of this unscrupulous worm, like his student the
opportunist Ángel Cuenca, who like to live the high life without working, with the money of third parties.
Another of the terrible anecdotes that I remember is one day that I was in his apartment-headquarters, where he had installed his "general staff" and from where he sent the communiqués to the press by fax, without the knowledge and approval of the party executive, when one
of the militants entered and handed him an envelope, which contained the monthly fee of a party member, and he opened the envelope counting the money and put it in the pocket of the pajamas he was wearing, and as calm as if the party were a simple business, which is what it was, his business and personal feeding trough.
Specifically in 1987, I decided without thinking more, to leave Antonio Cubillo's party, since I could not stand his cacique arrogance any longer, by not being for the unity of the nationalist field, being a serious obstacle in the Canarian liberation process, since Cubillo retains an old Spanish custom which is; divide and conquer, and considers any nationalist who contradicts him a traitor or Spanish agent, and does not share his outdated and demagogic political ideas.
Occupying the positions of the CNC and MPAIAC of omnipotent president, general secretary, treasurer, spokesperson and whatever it takes.
The only time he told a truth, which I regret not having paid attention to, since he is such a liar, was when he told me that Juan Hernández Rodríguez (alias el bandera) was a scammer. Years later I was able to verify it personally, by leaving him my furnished apartment in Maspalomas for a modest amount, to go and reside with my wife in Korea. For not paying, he did not even pay the community for two years, so before they foreclosed on the apartment, I sent a copy of the keys to my ex-wife, so that she
would sell it and give me half of its value. She sold it and kept all the money, without receiving a penny. Some of the so-called Canarian nationalists have only caused me problems, both family and economic, so I decided 12 years ago at the age of 48
to leave my beloved Homeland, to be away from so many opportunistic worms, who are capable of selling their own mother. Well, what is immoral is to vilely take advantage of a compatriot, who is
fighting side by side for the same cause.
Then Antonio Cubillo, when I left his party, began to disqualify me in the island press, with the purpose of damaging my respected nationalist image, but the old desert fox's shot backfired, as is customary in him, he does not like to show his face, but rather throw the stone and hide his hand, writing and
signing his relatives' pejorative articles against me, to which I replied in my own handwriting, since Guanche blood runs through my veins, and I do not usually lower my guard in defense of my honesty and gallantry.
I remember very well the compatriot Juan Valiente q.e.p.d., who was a staunch defender of Cubillo, also ending up leaving the party, cursing him. He told me that Cubillo wanted to take revenge for my
articles, and had sent his faithful Guadarrama to Las Palmas to break my face. One day that I was sitting having a coffee in the Río Cafeteria of Santa Catalina Park, the aforementioned individual passed by, the
which when he saw me, lowered his head and continued on his way, desisting from obeying the orders of his Leader. I think it was the most correct thing he did, since it was going to be difficult for him to break my face, since I am an expert in martial arts. Later, the aforementioned compatriot had a light bulb go on and sent Cubillo for a walk, realizing that he was using him for his personal purposes. Reasons why the vast majority have abandoned him for being shameless and shoddy, currently having a
couple of subordinates, dazzled by his fictitious little battles in Algerian lands, and his tragicomic radio broadcasts on «La Voz de Canarias Libre», broadcasts which the leaders got tired of
Algerians, for having the scratched record, giving the programming to their friends from the Polisario Front.
After 13 years without maintaining any kind of contact with the leader of yoismo, first me, then me, and later me, in 1999 I resided in Lanzarote, where the compatriots Julio Blancas and Salvador Hernández who
were part of the CNC (Cubillista), tried to convince me that Antonio Cubillo was no longer the same as in 1986, that the years had given him more political experience and he was more democratic etc. which was
difficult for me to believe given his advanced age. However, out of friendship and sympathy with said compatriots, I telephoned him a couple of times, and we agreed to have a chat when we had an opportunity.
Two years later I had the opportunity, on one of my trips to the Canary Islands, specifically on March 14, 2001, Antonio Cubillo was giving a conference at the Press Club of Las Palmas, accompanied by his faithful Álvaro Morera, and we greeted each other again, since I
was for political reconciliation, and I wanted to believe that he had changed his archaic and cacique style of doing politics, to create once and for all the aforementioned nationalist front, and advance without further delay all together along the path that would lead us to independence. Then we agreed
to meet in Tenerife, with the purpose of having a chat between the two of us, since I wanted to install a nationalist representation in Europe, to denounce before the European media, the colonial state implanted by the Spanish, and their Canarian henchmen of
service, as well as the high rate of corruption, marginalization and crime existing in the Canary Islands.
Three days later I traveled to Tenerife, and we met at the Café Parada, located next to his home, there he was explaining his plans to me, but when I mentioned the nationalist unity, he went off on a tangent, so, at the end of the chat, which lasted about three hours, I left very unhappy and internally dejected, seeing that I had wasted my time and money on the trip and stay, without obtaining a good result.
But my greatest disappointment about said sinister character came two days later, when I met the patriot Manuel Suárez Rosales in La Laguna, telling me in detail that Cubillo was not in his right mind, since he had held conversations with Pedro Medina, about reforming the party with open and democratic nuances, but he never agreed, giving long to the matter, so they decided to abandon the aforementioned unitary project with Cubillo, who wishes
continue alone exploiting his nationalist vein, and conspiring against the true independentists, who are for national unity.
I also found out that he had closed the CNC delegation on the island of Lanzarote, where the few faithful he had left could not pay the expenses of the premises. To top it off, for a time, he did nothing but send me faxes to my residence in Holland, so that I would send them to
diplomatic representations and the media. They were pure stories without rhyme or reason, about the oil discovered between the Canary Islands and the Moroccan Sahara, which the company wanted to exploit
Repsol, the latest floods and the deaths caused by them in Santa Cruz, news that has appeared in all national and foreign media. But he does not respond to my faxes, where I ask him about the Canary Islands Dossier, which he planned to take to the United Nations in his day, before suffering the attack in Algeria, therefore, since he had been spending the holidays in North America, residence of one of his children, why had he not presented said Dossier, since he had a great opportunity. Well, I am still waiting for his kind answer, which will never arrive, as there are many gaps and dirty rags in his «political» and
adventurous life of bon vivant, which will one day come to light.
Time does not pass for him, as he does not learn from his electoral failures, since he says in all his talks, that he does not accept Spanish colonialism, but he continues to play the game by complying with its colonial laws, and accepting to participate electorally in the fictitious Spanish democracy, which can never be democratic and defender of Human Rights while maintaining an African nation colonized far from its territory and the European continent.
One of his Machiavellian and cowardly feats was the one he carried out, when he was denounced for slandering the Spanish army in his Weekly El Guanche, he together with his right-hand man Ángel Cuenca, both to defend themselves before the colonial laws, cowardly hid behind the skirt of a deceased militant, whom without scruples, they implicated as editorial manager of the aforementioned weekly.
Nationalism in the Canary Islands can never advance with this kind of shameless and opportunist worms, since they are an obstacle, which directly or indirectly, are providing a great service to Spanish-European colonialism. Antonio Cubillo continues locked in his snail, since his disastrous arrival in the Canary Islands, being the laughing stock of the Canarians and Spaniards, by continuing to discredit the nationalist field, and for not knowing how to withdraw from the Canarian political scene in time, he will go down in history as the greatest traitor and homeland seller that the Canary Islands has had.
The true independentists, we must not be disappointed and lose our hopes with this Spanish pawn, since the parents of this character come from Spain. Finally, let's not wait for leaders, let's be leaders, alone we are nothing, united we are everything.
