Young residents of the Canary Islands will be able to access, starting this Tuesday, the subsidies granted by the Ministry of Employment, Social Policies and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Islands Housing Institute, for the acquisition of their habitual and permanent residence, with a budget of three million euros.

This was stated by the Councilor for Housing of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Rosa Mary Callero, who reports that the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) published in its edition this Monday the bases and the call for subsidies for this year 2020, "which are intended to facilitate young residents, up to 35 years of age, access to housing in a property regime."

Among the requirements to be eligible for this subsidy, it is important to note that the purchased home must have been acquired and elevated to a public deed, be fully constructed, intended for the habitual and permanent use of the applicant, and located in one of the municipalities of the Canary Islands, within the period between January 1, 2019 and August 31, 2020.

Likewise, it will be taken into account that the beneficiary of the subsidy has subscribed a mortgage loan to face the acquisition costs of the house and that the cohabitation unit to which the applicant belongs may not have annual income exceeding those established in the call.
