Lanzarote Airport, second most unpunctual in Spain

A study by the company AirHelp reveals the airports with the biggest delays in the country during the first semester of the year

During the first six months of 2025, more than 64 million passengers have taken a flight from an airport in Spain.

Approximately 78.6% of these trips were made on the scheduled time, according to data provided by Airhelp, a company that advises passengers who have suffered delays in their flights.

But there were also more than 13.8 million people who saw their flight suffer some kind of delay. The punctuality level of the Lanzarote Airport amounted to 74.5%, the second worst mark among Spanish airports.

During the first semester of the year, the airport of Lanzarote had 1.7 million passengers and 12,500 flights, of which 3,170 suffered delays, which affected 434,000 travelers.

The Airhelp study analyzes the Spanish airports with more than 2,000 monthly scheduled flights.

The most unpunctual aerodrome in the country is currently the third in number of passengers, the one in Palma de Mallorca, whose flights had a punctuality of 73.4%.

On the other hand, the most punctual airport of all of them during the first six months of the year has been the one in Granada-Jaén that reached a punctuality in its flights of 89.4%.

Next, the airports of Asturias and Melilla that obtained a punctuality rate of 88.4% and 87.9%, respectively.

For their part, the large airports of Madrid and Barcelona had a level of air traffic of approximately 14.6 and 12.4 million people. Regarding punctuality, the on-time departures from the Madrid airport are at 78.9% and the flights from the Catalan airport are at 81%.

The airport of Bilbao, crowned as the best Spanish airport and the second best in Europe in the annual AirHelp Score 2025 ranking, achieved a punctuality of 86.9%.
