One in three Lanzarote residents believes that their economic situation has worsened in the last six months (32.8% of respondents), according to the Consumer Confidence Index prepared by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
The survey also reflects that 10.3% of Lanzarote residents believe their economy is better, and another 56.9% believe it remains the same.
This index, which combines the perception of respondents about the current situation of the family economy and their expectations for the future, has again experienced a new decline in the second quarter of 2025.
At the Canary Islands level, 33.9% think that their family economy has worsened in the last six months.
This consolidates the downward path started at the beginning of 2024, as it has fallen 11 percentage points since then.
Compared to a year ago, the current situation index has fallen by 6.5 points, and the expectations index by 9.9 points.
One in ten people interviewed in the Canary Islands believes that the economic evolution of their household will be positive in the future, while another five indicate that it will be the same as it is now.
By islands, the inhabitants of Lanzarote are the most optimistic. 22% believe that the economic situation of their household will improve.
On the opposite side is La Gomera, where 11.8% have positive expectations about the economy.
However, it is together with El Hierro where it has only improved in comparison with the second quarter of 2024.
