According to information published by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the municipality of Tías reached the highest temperature on the entire island. Meanwhile, La Graciosa reached 36.6 degrees.
The Aemet station in Tías recorded 42 degrees at 6:00 p.m. In fact, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on August 10, the thermometer was above 40 degrees in this town. In addition, during the past early morning hours from Sunday to Monday, an equatorial night was experienced, where the temperature remained above 30 degrees throughout the night.
The municipality of Tinajo also exceeded the 40-degree mark. The municipality was between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday above 40 degrees. Meanwhile, the nights were torrid, above 25 degrees, and it was not until 6:00 a.m. that the thermometer dropped below this figure.
The strongest day of the heat wave was felt throughout the island. The municipality of Haría reached 39 degrees at 6:00 p.m., its maximum for the day. At the same time, the night was also difficult in the town, where the thermometer exceeded 29 degrees.
Sunday left temperatures of up to 35.7 degrees in Yaiza. The Aemet station in Playa Blanca states that the first hours of the day were the hottest in the coastal town. Specifically, at 7:00 a.m. it had already exceeded 35 degrees. However, as the day progressed, temperatures in the town were around 30 degrees. Meanwhile, the night was also torrid, with the thermometer above 25 degrees.
The Lanzarote Airport station, in the municipality of San Bartolomé, recorded 32.3 degrees this past Sunday. It was not until 10:00 p.m. that the thermometer in the area dropped to 28 degrees, and throughout the night it remained above 25, with torrid nights.
