The Yaiza Town Council publishes this Thursday the tender for the municipal project to execute conditioning works at the entrance to Playa Blanca via the Femés road, allocating 1.4 million euros from its budget. This initiative includes several actions in the section between the Plabacón roundabouts and the Marcastell urbanization: paving, widening of the road, construction of a bicycle lane, and installation of lighting and signage.
Óscar Noda, mayor of Yaiza, values this new initiative as "a necessary project not only because of the deterioration of the asphalt and the road margins of this alternative entry and exit route to Playa Blanca, but also because once the works are completed, our main tourist destination will offer a much friendlier face to residents and visitors."
The municipal president also recalls that "in the last month alone, we have put out to tender projects totaling 7.1 million euros, making us the institution with the greatest investment capacity in Lanzarote." Óscar Noda refers to the rehabilitation of Avenida Papagayo for 3.2 million, works on the Uga wrestling ground and its surroundings, 1.5 million, the Uga sports court next to the school, 1 million more, and the 1.4 million of this tender that the City Council has just published. In the first half of the year, Yaiza incorporated 22.9 million euros from treasury surplus, "12.9 million more than the Cabildo of Lanzarote."
Regarding the imminent intervention in Playa Blanca, the Councilor for Public Works of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, explains that "for us it is one of the priority projects after the rehabilitation of the road that connects Maciot and Femés with Playa Blanca. We give continuity to the improvement of the road, which supports a good volume of traffic and heavy traffic, and we carry out complementary actions to clean up the entire area."
