The facilities will remain "open doors" until September 30 so that interested citizens "can familiarize themselves with the mechanics of the devices and question the responsible monitors about the training methodology that best suits their interests," explained the Councilor for Sports, Evaristo García.
And they consist of a reception, six spacious changing rooms - two male, two female and two for boys and girls - two rooms for directed activities of 150 square meters with floating parquet, a room of 220 square meters for fitness and cardiovascular with state-of-the-art machinery, 2 42-inch plasma screens and computerized access control.
Among the activities that can be practiced in the municipal gym are spinning classes, GAP, maintenance gymnastics, pilates, combo, total training, aerobic/step and stretching spread throughout the day.
'Sustainable' Gym
From the southern Consistory they have also highlighted that this Gym has been built taking into account energy saving parameters and the use of clean energy. For example, the roof has been designed with natural skylights for maximum use of sunlight. It also has natural ventilation, water heating by solar panels and waste control. In this way, and according to the opinion of experts in the field, "the southern endowments become the best public ones on the island, and possibly, some of the best in the Canary Islands".
The open days will have a split morning and afternoon schedule (from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.). And the schedule will be continuous from the first of October, which will open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The opening of these facilities is the result of the leasing operation that the first southern mayor, Gladys Acuña, signed with a bank, for a value of 300,000 euros.
