The airport strike does not only affect Iberia. The airline provides its handling services (unloading luggage, check-in and others) to other companies operating at Lanzarote airport. There are two administrative concessions at the aerodrome: one belongs to the company Eurohandling and the other to Iberia Handling. The latter serves Iberia aircraft and aircraft from 32 charter companies.

In fact, Iberia only has one daily flight to Lanzarote, and therefore the handling services are provided to other companies that represent 50 percent of the activity at the Island's airport. Among them are Spanish airlines such as Iberworld, LTD, Hola Airline and Binter Canarias.

Not affected

On the other hand, passengers of the companies Spanair and AirEuropa are not affected by the strike. Spanair covers its handling needs with its own personnel and AirEuropa has subcontracted the services to Eurohandling.

After the serious incidents on Sunday and despite the fact that two cargo planes took most of the suitcases that were left on the ground that day, there are still about 800 packages that have not been dispatched to their destinations.
