More than half of Lanzarote's residents, specifically **56.5%, believe that tourism has a negative effect on the cost of living**, meaning it impacts the general rise in prices, according to the latest Canary Islands sociobarometer, conducted by the UNED of Gran Canaria.

Lanzarote is the island that most attributes the price increase to tourism. In second place, Fuerteventura, where this opinion is chosen by 55.3% of the population.

Next are Gran Canaria and La Gomera, where 54.3% and 52.5% respectively believe that tourism has a negative impact on the cost of living. In Tenerife, more than half of the population also believes this (52.3%).

The islands that least attribute the price increase to tourism are La Palma (44.2%) and especially El Hierro (37.2%).

The latest Canary Islands Partner Barometer was published in November and is a periodic survey-based study on the opinions, habits, and attitudes of the resident population in the Canary Islands and their evolution over time.

The project originates from a Cooperation Agreement (2020-2023) between the Vice Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Distance Higher Education Foundation of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the entity that owns the Associated Center of the UNED in Gran Canaria, for the implementation of a Sociobarometer of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, which the Center has been carrying out since 2020 as a fundamental part of its research activity.
