The President of the Canary Islands Government and General Secretary of the PSOE, Ángel Victor Torres, lamented this Thursday "the moment" chosen by the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez (PP), to break the government pact with the dismissal of the socialist councilors.

"We are not here for political instabilities," he said at a press conference, also stressing that the PSOE of Lanzarote is "immersed in pain" these days after the death of the mayor of San Bartolomé, Alexis Tejera, and that the political forces should focus on "economic recovery", controlling the health pandemic and "lending a hand as much as possible" to ensure that La Palma returns to normal.

Torres commented that now it is time to "be united and find solutions to the problems", while attributing the situation to Pérez herself and guaranteed that the governability in the Cabildo will not be affected.
