The Youth Councilor of the Tinajo City Council, Vianney Rodríguez, was in charge of collecting this Wednesday at the Palacio de la Merced, headquarters of the Cordoba Provincial Council, the XIII Edition of the Progreso Award in its Cohesion and Social Policies Version for municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants, for the project Community Development Program La Cancha, an award given by the Foundation for the Development of the Peoples of Andalusia (FUDEPA) and the Andalusian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FAMP).
This XIII Edition of the Progreso Award, with the sponsorship of the Cordoba Provincial Council through the Provincial Institute of Economic Development (IPRODECO), has awarded a total of 24 awards to national and international institutions (Colombia and Uruguay) decided by a jury composed of representatives of the Andalusian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FAMP), University of Granada, University of Cordoba, FAMSI, IPRODECO, Ministry of Justice, Local Administration and Public Function of the Junta de Andalucía, and FUDEPA.
The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, wanted to publicly thank the Foundation for the Development of the Peoples of Andalusia (FUDEPA) for the award given today in Cordoba to the Tinajo City Council. “It is a source of pride for our municipality that our work is so valued, always focusing on our community and youth, on social and community policies that always add up. Thank you,” concluded the mayor.
Vianney Rodríguez thanked in his speech “FUDEPA, FAMP, the Cordoba Provincial Council and all the entities that have made this XIII edition of the Progreso Award possible. Receiving this recognition for the La Cancha Community Development Program is an immense honor. For us, La Cancha is not just a project: it is a living space, of participation, of identity, of meeting between young people and the community. It is the reflection of a small municipality that believes big; that bets on its youth not as a future, but as an active and transforming present,” he continued.
“The La Cancha program has been the tool that has shown that participation, knowledge and meeting between people generates magic, and this is what has been experienced in the reception of young migrants in the municipality, in the design of youth programs through participation spaces, the revitalization of own spaces and the shared work with the different technical resources with presence in the territory," he declared.
This award recognizes, continued the councilor, “an innovative proposal in social policies, but also the daily dedication of a committed team, the trust of our neighbors and, above all, the energy and creativity of our young people. Thank you for valuing an initiative that was born from below, from dialogue and active listening, and that today, thanks to this award, is projected with more force. We take this award with humility, but also with renewed motivation to continue betting on participation, inclusion and social cohesion,” concluded Vianney Rodríguez at the Palacio de la Merced in Cordoba.
The La Cancha Community Development Program has also had the collaboration of the Youth and Social Welfare areas of the Island Council of Lanzarote, a social program that emerged at the end of 2020 and that involves from its beginnings public representatives, technical personnel, families and citizens in general, especially thanking "the participation of the youth of the municipality who have opted for a different form of management of public policies, demonstrating that their participation has been fundamental in the evolution of the award-winning project."
