Lanzarote writer Carlos Battaglini and also writer and journalist from Navarra Eduardo Laporte will hold a literary meeting at the Cultural Innovation Center (CIC) El Almacén, to talk about "the ins and outs of literary creation".
The meeting, organized by the Culture area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, will take place this Tuesday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m., in the Buñuel Room of the CIC El Almacén.
Under the title of "Upside Down Literature", the two creators will hold a talk in which they will discuss how both writers "face the different challenges associated with their speeches". In addition, they will address the questions and readings that have been and are significant today to configure "their literary and intellectual imaginary."
From the Cabildo they point out that admission is free, but due to limitations and capacity control, as well as the application of anti-Covid measures, it is necessary to "reserve access in advance". Carlos Batagglini (Lanzarote, 1976)
After graduating in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Granada, and leaving the diplomatic career as a cooperation project coordinator for the European Union in countries such as Papua New Guinea or Liberia, in 2017 he relegated this professional facet to "dedicate himself fully to literary creation". In addition to numerous opinion articles, travel chronicles, literary reviews, journalistic collaborations, as well as some mentions and literary awards, Battaglini is the author of a book of short stories entitled "I'm leaving here", published in 2020 and the book of poems "Other bonfires" published in 2021, among other literary compositions.
The Cabildo points out that these publications have led him to move "towards a promising and ascending literary career, both inside and outside the Canary Islands, participating in numerous book fairs and important literary forums in our country."
Eduardo Laporte (Pamplona, 1979)
After finishing his degree in Journalism from the University of Navarra, and starting his first literary steps, he moved to Madrid in 2005, where he began his career as a writer, essayist, cultural journalist and literary critic. He made articles, works and publications in "prestigious magazines, newspapers and publishers", to become one of the "most interesting, active and mature voices on the national literary scene."
Laporte is the author of books such as “Postcards from the digital shipwreck”, “November light in the afternoon”, “Havana 2009”, “La tabla”, “Diaries 2015-2016”, “Barojiano and the opposite”, “In the presence of Battiato” or “Ordinary Time”, among others.
