Puerto del Carmen will inaugurate a remodeled and modern Post Office in 2020. The Central Government, responding to requests made by the Tías City Council, has put out to tender the works for the comprehensive renovation of the current Post Office facilities in the heart of La Tiñosa, in a strategic area next to the Clinic and the Civil Guard.
The Subdirectorate of Purchases of the State Society Correos y Telégrafos S.A. published this Friday, May 24, on the Public Sector Contracting Platform the official tender for "Coordination of Safety and Health in construction and other expenses and execution of work for the Renovation of the current building of the Commercial Office and Distribution Unit of Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote (Las Palmas), located at Calle Munguía, 2". The tender amount for these works is 389,253.7 euros.
The Tías City Council had expressed its rejection of the recent closure of the Post Office in the town of Mácher and had demanded that the state public entity Correos y Telégrafos improve and adapt the facilities of this public service throughout the municipality of Tías.
According to Correos in this tender, the company that is awarded the contract will have 6 months to complete the work.
The Department of Roads and Works of the Tías City Council has carried out various works in recent times to improve accessibility in the vicinity of this building, and several works are currently underway to beautify the roundabout near this place, where one of the sculptures allegorical to the fishing origin of La Tiñosa has been installed.
