The Tías City Council has put out to tender the service of searching for and collecting abandoned and stray animals with a base bidding budget of 160,414.4 euros including taxes and with an execution period of two years with the possibility of extension. The deadline for submitting offers is April 24.

The technical specifications of the service indicate that the contractor will be responsible for the service of collecting lost, abandoned or seized companion animals in the municipality of Tías on a regular basis from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on an extraordinary basis outside of those hours.

The service will be provided by notice from the Local Police of Tías or the Animal Welfare personnel of the City Council, who will indicate to the contractor the type of animal and the place where it is located, which must be collected within one hour and transferred to the center designated for its maintenance and temporary stay.

The Tías City Council will declare the collected animal as abandoned in cases where it does not have identification and has not been claimed by anyone within 21 business days; if it has identification but the period of 21 days has elapsed from the notification and the owner has not appeared; if it has identification but its owner renounces its collection; or if it has identification but its owner has not paid the expenses originated by the collection, custody, stay, maintenance and veterinary assistance.

According to the specifications, the contractor will establish the necessary mechanisms to facilitate the adoption of the animals collected by its own methods or in collaboration with animal protection associations. Temporary shelter will also be facilitated as a prior experience before definitive adoption.

The contract also includes the feline colony control service that contemplates the sterilization by surgery of 300 individuals per year.
