The PSOE of Lanzarote describes as "inadmissible" the statements of María del Mar Julios against the Island Health Board

This Wednesday, the vice-president of the Canary Islands Government and Minister of Health, María del Mar Julios, made statements to the press in which she questioned the Island Health Board created by the Cabildo of Lanzarote: "The councils must collaborate in matters of health, but the area of health is something that the Autonomous Government is responsible for managing," Julios told the media. These words have caused outrage in the Canarian Socialist Party of Lanzarote, which considers it "inadmissible that the number two of the Canary Islands Government dares to declare that it is not appropriate for a local institution to launch forums for debate on autonomous powers."

The socialists demand a rectification from the vice-president, as well as apologies "for such a arrogant and contemptuous attitude towards the Cabildo of Lanzarote and towards citizen groups."

The Island Health Board, created at the request of the Minister of Health, Manuel Fajardo, was approved unanimously by all political forces, with the support of groups, associations and other representatives of the Lanzarote health sector. The aim of this body is to create a forum for debate and reflection for all sectors that demand an urgent improvement in the functioning of the Canarian Health Service on the Island.
