The Spokesperson of the Socialist Municipal Group of San Bartolomé, Andrés Stinga, has made public his support for the residents of Playa Honda in relation to the criticisms regarding the situation of municipal sports infrastructures in the town. The urbanization, which currently hosts about 12,000 inhabitants, many of whom are children and young people, does not have a soccer field with artificial turf, despite the large group of people who practice this sport in its different categories.
"With respect to other sports, the second city in population weight of Lanzarote, after Arrecife, only has the courts of the Sociocultural Center and those of the Institute, clearly insufficient and with schedules that do not meet the needs of the inhabitants of Playa Honda," said Andrés Stinga. The "terrible qualities of the facilities" are another of the recurring complaints of the residents, which have not been addressed by the councilor of Playa Honda, Javier Betancort, according to the socialists
That is why the PSC-PSOE of San Bartolomé requests the City Council to take the matter into consideration as soon as possible and execute all the necessary steps so that the population center of Playa Honda has a soccer field in conditions and equipped with artificial turf, as well as sports infrastructures according to its population.
The socialists add this claim to others that also affect the urbanization, such as the lack of decisive action in relation to the channeling of rainwater, insecurity in some areas or the lack of containers for the separation of domestic waste in many streets. "The mayor Miguel Martín and the councilor responsible for Playa Honda, Javier Betancort, seem to be more concerned with particular issues than with the management of the municipality and the attention to the neighborhood demands, something that they will undoubtedly pay at the polls, as the latest polls clearly show," said the socialist councilor.
