The president of the Cabildo has expelled the councilor of the Popular Party, Jacobo Medina, from the Plenary after calling him to order twice. This event took place after the Government group rejected the motion presented by the PP on the rehabilitation of the Titerroy houses, at which point Medina asked to speak by way of personal reference.

The Popular Party "regrets the dictatorial and undemocratic start" that President Dolores Corujo had during the plenary session held this Monday morning by expelling the PP councilor, Jacobo Medina, from the plenary, "without him violating the regulations of organization and operation of the corporation."

The "authoritarian decision of Dolores Corujo", also general secretary of the PSOE and regional parliamentarian, occurred during the debate of the motion presented by the Popular Party "in relation to the problems that have affected the residents of the Titerroy neighborhood for more than a decade." At one point in the session, "Medina requests a turn to speak from the president to respond to the direct allusions to his person that the president had made during her speech." A right that is established and "perfectly included" in Art. 95 of the Cabildo Regulations, the PP recalls.

"Corujo not only does not give the PP councilor the floor, but expels him from the plenary without any justified cause, which motivates the rest of the councilors of this political group to leave the session. It is not the first time that the president has acted in this totally out of place manner, especially when she is not interested in what is being said to her. These forms are totally against consensus, transparency and tolerance, which she preaches so much; because in no case has the councilor of the Popular Party disrespected the institution, the president, or any councilor," denounces the PP.

Titerroy Homes

Finally, President Dolores Corujo "has denied the plenary the possibility of taking a stand alongside the residents of Titerroy affected by the eviction of their homes" and "urge the Government of the Canary Islands to comply with the commitment reached with the families and expedite the procedures for rehabilitation," according to the PP.

A request that the popular party considers "completely justified" after "the Torres executive recognized in parliamentary headquarters that it was not until this month of October that they proceeded to commission the drafting of the projects for the five affected homes." A statement that "reveals that the Government of the Canary Islands has not acted diligently despite having been saying for more than three months that the City Council was hindering the solution."

"Sadly, it was not until the City Council requested the projects that they got their act together and commissioned their drafting," that is more than "half a year after Corujo and Torres sat down with the affected families and committed to solving the problem," as the PP councilor, Jacobo Medina, reminded them, who once again urged the president to stop "making partisan use of a problem that has been dragging on for a decade."
