The president of the Popular Party of Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez, has shown her sorrow for the death of José María Espino, former mayor of Arrecife, and on her behalf and on behalf of the Popular Party, she extends her deepest condolences to all his family, friends, relatives and neighbors of the municipality who had the pleasure of knowing and dealing with him.
Astrid Pérez conveys her condolences and regrets the loss of José María Espino, one of the leading politicians of the 80s, coinciding with his role as mayor of the capital, a responsibility he held for three consecutive terms.
“With his successes and mistakes, as is normal when holding a position of responsibility and having to make decisions, the important role of José María Espino in the development of the city at a time when Arrecife lacked many infrastructures and services is undeniable. In that sense, he was the architect of essential arteries for the capital, such as the medullary road, a project that at the time not everyone understood but that proved essential for the city,” says Astrid Pérez.
“Above ideologies, Espino was always an affable man, always polite, a good conversationalist, who earned the respect and affection of his neighbors and those who were his companions in the different facets he developed,” adds Pérez, who also highlights the work he carried out for many years at the head of the UNED. Rest in peace.
