The PP believes that Franquis' appearance on Titerroy proves them right: "He acknowledges that they have commissioned the projects now"

"It is incomprehensible that the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo have used every institutional press release to lash out at the municipal government, falsely accusing it of obstructing the search for a solution," he says.

"After three months of saying that the Arrecife City Council was hindering the solution to the problem of the evicted houses in Titerroy, the Housing Minister of the Government of the Canary Islands, the socialist Sebastián Franquis, acknowledges in Parliament that it is 'now' when he has commissioned the drafting of the projects for the rehabilitation of the five properties". This is how the PP has assessed the appearance made this Monday by Franquis, in which he once again blamed the Consistory for the delay.

"Although the government says that 'it has been acting since 2019 to carry out the reform and rehabilitation of the houses', everyone knows that it was not until May of this year when Franquis and Dolores Corujo met with the residents to announce that they were going to fix their houses", add the popular ones in a statement.

"Since then, nothing was known of either the Government of the Canary Islands or the Cabildo and it has not been until now, that the City Council has required them for meetings and the projects have been requested, when they have been activated and have commissioned their drafting, half a year after sitting down with the affected families", they denounce.

"The appearance of the counselor in the plenary session of Parliament has served to confirm that, effectively, the capital City Council can do little until the regional executive concludes the projects. For this reason, it is incomprehensible that, except for partisan issues, the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Lanzarote have used every institutional press release to lash out at the municipal government, falsely accusing it of obstructing the search for a solution", adds the party.

In addition, he regrets that "we have had to wait for Astrid Pérez, as a deputy and parliamentary channel, to ask the Government for the projects and that, from the government of Arrecife, the creation of a working commission with all political groups has been promoted, when the Government of the Canary Islands has put the batteries to try to fulfill the commitment it acquired with the neighbors".

"The reality is that the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, has always been in the search for solutions within the legal margin that the City Council has and has not ceased her will that families can recover their homes as soon as possible, as evidenced by the three meeting requests made by the Housing Councilor and that the executive has not even deigned to answer", add from the party led by Pérez.

"It is evident that there are those who in this matter have been more concerned about partisan issues than about finding a quick response to the residents of Titerroy who have been out of their homes for a decade and the confirmation occurred yesterday in the parliamentary session", they conclude, with a very different reading from that made by the PSOE.
