"This Tuesday, the rainwater works in the town of Playa Honda will be resumed, which have caused so many problems for the residents of Chimidas, Boya and a section of Chinchorro streets, and for all the road traffic in the town, affected by them." This was announced by the San Bartolomé City Council, which states that "the hard work and meetings held by the mayor have paid off."
According to the company awarded these works to the Consistory, the works will begin at 8:30 a.m. this Tuesday, and will be completed "in two or three months."
The works have been paralyzed due to problems in financing, which have been resolved between the company that executes them, Comsa, and the Ministry of the Environment of the Central Government.
The excavators will start digging again this Tuesday in Calle Chimidas, "and throughout the week operators will continue to work on Calle Boya, where the concrete frame will be poured, it will be expected to gain resistance, to later fill it, asphalt it and paint it, thus concluding this section of work."
Fighting for new works
The mayor of San Bartolomé, María Dolores Corujo, has declared that she is "extremely happy about the start of these works, hoping that in the first months of 2013 they will be completed in this first phase, which will be joined by new works, for which hard efforts are already being made since rainwater works are essential for the town of Playa Honda."
In addition, in response to the criticisms she has received from other parties, the mayor has added that the government group is "working hard for the interests of the municipality and resolving efforts, so I cannot allow myself to be answering unfortunate statements from prominent members of the opposition who are looking for media attention."
