The Government of Spain will launch a new application to prevent minors from accessing pornographic content on the Internet. A new tool that will be available at the end of the summer and is part of a pilot project based on an age verification system, according to Onda Cero.
The application called Cartera Digital Beta, will have a QR code and identification completely anonymously that can control the age of users who enter adult content pages. The person who wants to consume this type of content must request credentials through the application after downloading it on their mobile. Then, the user must identify themselves with an electronic ID, qualified certificates or the agreed keys of the Cl@ve system (Cl@ve PIN, Cl@ve mobile or Cl@ve permanent).
According to what has been learned about the operation of the mobile application, the credential will be anonymous and will not contain any other personal data to ensure the safety of consumers.
Scan a QR code
After obtaining the credential, when entering the adult content page, the platform will generate a QR code to scan from the application, in order to guarantee that age of majority. Credentials that must be renewed when they run out or one month after being issued, and that will have a reading process that will be done automatically.
Once obtained in digital format (it works similarly to the mobile wallet or wallet) when accessing an adult content platform, the website itself will give a QR code that must be scanned from the application to prove that you are of legal age, the process of reading the credentials will be done automatically and finally they will have to be renewed when they run out or one month after being issued. This monthly renewal is necessary to prevent Internet pages from getting all the browsing data of users.
The Minister of Education and spokesperson for the Government, Pilar Alegría, who has specified that "it has already been tested with the main browsers and whose main objective is to protect minors from accessing adult content." These statements add to the "comprehensive law for minors on the internet" that the Sánchez Executive is preparing, which represents a multidisciplinary comprehensive strategy "from the field of education, digital skills and equality," they added.
