The members of the Island Coordination Commission against Oil Prospecting are mobilizing again under the "No to oil companies, Yes to Renewables" slogan. This time, on the occasion of the celebration of the 2012 Ironman, which will take place this Saturday, the groups, associations and entities that are part of this entity have been working to provide information to the sports and specialized press and to the more than 1,600 triathletes and athletes who will gather on the island during this week.
Thanks to the collaboration of La Santa Sport, organizer of the event, from this Wednesday, May 16, the Commission will have an information and signature collection stand at the Expo for athletes and international press that is organized in this sports complex. This stand will also feature a "display" with information in Spanish and English, with the manifesto "No to Oil Companies, Yes to Renewables" in several languages for collecting signatures, delivering press kits, brochures and other informative material.
The stand, located between the Pool Bar and the Club La Santa stadium, will remain open from this Wednesday to Friday, May 18 (Wednesday and Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
From the Island Coordination Commission, they inform that people and volunteers who want to collaborate with the organization to collect signatures and offer information at the stand, during the indicated days and times, can contact the email address: entretodos@cabildodelanzarote.
As the athletes pass by
Similarly, the Island Commission has had the collaboration of personnel and technicians from various areas of the Cabildo, such as Waste, Biosphere Reserve, Citizen Participation, Environment and Sports, and the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, among other actions for the assembly of the stand, collaboration in the distribution of information and delivery of materials to Club La Santa, who will be responsible for distributing the information, prepared specifically for this sporting event and translated into English, French and German, to triathletes and the international press.
The backpacks of the athletes that the organization delivers with the necessary material for the development of the test will also include this information.
The social and citizen movement will also be present during several strategic points of the Ironman's land route with banners and symbolic posters that will be shown as the athletes pass by, coordinated with the organization of the event so as not to hinder the development of the test in the slightest.
