The CEIP Mácher-La Asomada school cafeteria finally opened its doors this Tuesday. Although it was already finished, the service had been closed since the center's inauguration during the 2009-2010 school year.
The Tías City Council has stated that "after repeated demands" from the municipality and the school's administration to the Department of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, the cafeteria has finally been put into operation.
The mayor of Tías, José Francisco Hernández, has expressed his satisfaction at seeing "a repeated demand that this governing group has been making since its arrival at the City Council to the Department of Education" fulfilled. In this context, he urged the Minister of Public Works of the Cabildo and former councilor of Tías, José Antonio Gutiérrez, to "finally complete the installation works of lighting, sidewalks, signage, and traffic lights" in the vicinity of the center. "Only in this way will the risk that students suffer daily when they go to access the school be avoided," the mayor indicated.
"José Juan Cruz forgot to provide the school with a parking lot"
Precisely, the PSOE of Tías demanded this Wednesday that the municipal government group finalize "as soon as possible" the [conditioning works of the school's parking lot ->74848] "given the danger it represents for students, parents, and other users." In this sense, it indicated that the Cabildo completed the works a month ago and, therefore, "it is unacceptable that the City Council now does not fulfill its part."
In this regard, the mayor of Tías has assured that the City Council will allocate a budget item close to 100,000 euros to complete the construction works of 120 parking spaces initiated in October, "because the previous government group, presided over by the socialist José Juan Cruz, forgot to provide the school with a parking lot."
With that money, both the paving of the parking area and the relocation of the school's entrance door to the opposite side of where it is currently located will be carried out. This will allow students to access the school directly through said parking area instead of through the main road, as they have been doing to date, according to the mayor.
