The Tourist Centers have put out to tender the removal of the four equestrian sculptures by Jason DeCaires that were installed in the surroundings of the Castle of San José during the previous term of CC. The installation was carried out in its day without having previously taken this decision to the Board of Directors of the CACT and without reports that Heritage had warned were necessary. In addition, there was no technical report proposing the placement of these DeCaires sculptures, which he later tried to sell to the Centers for 200,000 euros.
The maximum budget for the tender is 24,360 euros plus 1,583.40 euros in respect of IGIC. The announcement was published last Friday on the website of the Tourist Centers and, as indicated, interested companies have until 2 p.m. next Friday to submit their offers. The execution period of the works will be seven days from the signing of the contract, two of them preparatory.
The contract will be awarded by a simplified open procedure to the most economically advantageous offer, as stated in the terms and conditions. The works will consist of the mobilization and preparation of a boat with a crane for lifting the sculptures, preparation of beams for lifting, dredging of hollows to place the beams under the sculptures, lifting of the sculptures and placement on the boat, transfer to the dock, unloading onto the dock and loading onto a road transport plate and unloading by crane "in the warehouse intended for this purpose".
