The Cabildo of Lanzarote presented this Wednesday three new vehicles that will be incorporated into the island's bus fleet. The event was held at the Preferential Bus Stop of Puerto del Carmen, where these new assets were announced that will contribute to reinforcing and renewing the public intercity transport service.
The event was attended by the Minister of Transport, Marcos Bergaz, the general director of Intercitybus Lanzarote, Esther Cabrera, and the mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, among others.
The Minister of Transport, Marcos Bergaz, pointed out that, “with this acquisition we are fulfilling the commitment to add ten new buses before the end of 2022, with the aim of meeting the increase in demand and lowering CO2 emissions on the Island”.
“The new units, IVECO Crossway Model, have involved an investment of 673,779 euros charged to the concession contract, and will allow the average age of the current fleet to be 5.5 years”, Bergaz indicated.
“It should be remembered that during the last year, we have added a dozen new buses, all more energy efficient, with lower CO2 emissions, and adapted for users with special needs, requirements of sustainable and universal mobility”, Bergaz remarked.
“We are convinced that the new buses will improve the service on the lines that connect the towns, as well as the growing demand in the urban corridors of lines 3 and 60”, the councilor concluded.
