The Cabildo of Lanzarote has decreed the closure and suspension of the activity of all day centers dependent on the institution due to the "worrying" increase in Covid-19 infections registered on the island in recent days and the vulnerability of the elderly and other users of these facilities.

In this sense, the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, explains that "this is a complementary measure to those already adopted by the health authorities, in order to protect the health of the residents of the island" and points out that "exceptions will be established in the case of those people who, due to their special circumstances, require the attention provided in the centers"

Likewise, Dolores Corujo guarantees that the management of the centers themselves will adopt the necessary measures so that the professionals at their service are in contact and at the disposal of the users and their families.

The closure and suspension of activities affects a total of six day centers such as those of Tías, Haría, San Roque, Las Cabreras, La Graciosa, and the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center (CRPS). It also affects the Center for People with Psychic Disabilities (Center for the Need of a Third Person and Occupational Center), the Julio Santiago Obeso Rehabilitation Unit and the Personal Autonomy Promotion Service and the Personal Autonomy Promotion Service in Early Care.

From the Corporation, an appeal is made "to the collective responsibility of the population, given the delicate health situation that Lanzarote is currently experiencing" and it is reported that this new complementary measure will be extended as long as the current infection rate is maintained.
