The airport director denies involvement in the Iberia strike problems

The director of the Lanzarote airport, Dionisio Canomanuel, was blunt yesterday about the accusations against the management of Guacimeta for the access to the restricted areas of the Ibera workers who are on strike as well as the alleged contracts that the airline makes to unqualified personnel to reduce the effects of the strike. Regarding the first point, Dionisio Canomanuel explained that the strike committee accesses the restricted areas "at the times that have been previously agreed and the workers on the days that there is no strike and they have to work also do so".

In this sense, the director of the aerodrome pointed out that this does not happen because the conditions have changed, but because that day the person works and is not doing the functions of the committee. In this way, Dionisio Canomanuel assured: "The committee has never addressed the airport management to communicate any aspect of this type".

Inquiries

Regarding the second point, the highest responsible of Guacimeta said that they do not enter "into whether the person replaces or is a casualty. In that sense we cannot not because we do not want to but because it is not our competence". In fact, Dionisio Canomanuel assured that the labor inspector is making inquiries "and nobody can say that the airport is preventing or facilitating access because our competence is to facilitate access to the workers that the company says and it is this one that has to monitor its labor aspects".

Therefore, as far as the aspects related to security are concerned, "the areas where the workers enter that are limited by security we are trying to guarantee that the aeronautical operations are maintained within the security regime that we currently have", concluded Dionisio Canomanuel.
